The Big Give 2017 – 18

A gift to FCMS supports the development of every student and will generate the necessary financial support to ensure that the spirit and mission of FCMS continues.

Charter public schools like Fort Collins Montessori School (FCMS) are built by impassioned families and community leaders who come together to offer something that traditional schools do not. The families and friends involved in the early years of charter schools, like FCMS, are the initiators—they are the backbone and driving force to ensure a school’s success.

YOU are these families and friends.

For many, FCMS is a dream school for children. Montessori ignites drive, is a safe haven, and incorporates creativity and kindness in its curriculum. Whatever your reason for supporting FCMS, there is no denying that it is an exceptional opportunity for children in the Poudre School District.

However, exceptional opportunities can come at a cost.

For the 2016-17 school year, FCMS received approximately 70% of its funding from the state of Colorado and grants. * The remaining gap was met with preschool and kindergarten (half day is free) tuition, grassroots fundraising efforts, and gifts from parents, friends and philanthropists. Aside from our day-to-day operating budget, over the next few years FCMS will need to raise over one million dollars to finance land and a building to accommodate our growth and achieve our vision of a working farm school. To meet this funding gap and ensure our school’s future, we need your help.

For this year’s Big Give we are posing the challenge of 100% FCMS family participation and a goal of raising $20,000—or roughly $150 per student.

FCMS families, we urge you to demonstrate your commitment to Fort Collins Montessori School with a generous financial gift that fits within your budget. In doing so, you will inspire other individuals, businesses and philanthropists to join the cause.

If you are an FCMS family and a lump sum donation isn’t possible at this time, consider a recurring monthly gift of $10-15 per student, per month.  While we know that not every family may have the resources to contribute $150 per pupil, we have confidence in averages. Some families will be able to give more, some not as much, but every family contributing helps toward the 100% mark!

Join one of the largest one-day giving movements in the country.  Schedule a one-time or recurring monthly gift to FCMS via Colorado Gives. This year Colorado Gives Day is Tuesday, December 5, and features a $1 million Incentive Fund. Every nonprofit receiving a donation on Colorado Gives Day will receive a portion of the fund, increasing the value of every dollar donated. You may schedule your Colorado Gives Day donation in advance at ColoradoGives.org .

The last day to give is December 5, 2017.
