PSD School Board Votes YES for Fort Collins Montessori School!!!

Dear Montessori Supporters,

Last night the Poudre School District Board of Education gave us a unanimous YES vote on our charter application. They were complimentary of our efforts and thoroughness in the application, which felt excellent to our team! Their concerns for our opening on time center around acquisition of funding and facilities. This constitutes a significant portion of the effort and focus we must put forth in the next many months. Many of you have e-mailed today to ask “what is next?”

The School Board’s yes vote also comes with some milestones to meet. We are examining these carefully today and the next few days so that we have a complete picture of what we must do next, and how to go about getting there. I can tell you that we will begin forming some critical committees, and this is the time for interested parents to commit to making this school a reality. We will post more on this in the coming few weeks as we organize for this next phase. Do stay tuned to the website for updates, and learn how you can contribute to making this school a reality for Fort Collins families.

One other critical event that is upcoming is the announcement of the CDE Charter School Grant Program Awards. This should happen by Nov 10. We are reliant upon this grant for funding our start-up needs like materials and supplies for the school. We will post the news here as soon as we have it.

Our entire team wants to thank you for your interest and support. We are looking forward to working with many of you as we bring this school to an opening in August 2014!
